A ten minute walk from Cork City centre lies the magnificant Fitzgerald's Park. Fitzgerald's Park is situated on the north channel of the river Lee and is spread over eight hectares. The park first opened in 1720 and has remained open since. Within the park you can enjoy the formal gardens, the green spaces, the water fountains, the great waterlily pond, feeding the ducks or even a trip to Cork Public Museum which lies in the park. Entrance to the museum is free from Monday to Sarurday but costs two euro and fifty cent for a family ticket on Sundays. Although it is not very big it is certainly very interesting.

The Park prides itself on being able to cater for all types of people and even has a scent garden for the blind. Toilets are available throughout the Park for Ladies and Gents with baby changing facilities. There is also a children's playground within the Park complete with a slide and a swing set. By walking along the the river you will reach Daly's Bridge known by the locals as the Shakey Bridge, which has it's name from the slight motion it can be set in. This bridge was modeled on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
